AN10.175 — Parikkamanasutta

This Dhamma is with scrutiny, it is not without scrutiny. And how is this Dhamma with scrutiny, not without scrutiny?

For one who abstains from taking life abstinence from taking life is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from taking what is not given abstinence from taking what is not given is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from sexual misconduct abstinence from sexual misconduct is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from false speech abstinence from false speech is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from divisive speech abstinence from divisive speech is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from harsh speech abstinence from harsh speech is scrutiny.

For one who abstains from idle chatter abstinence from idle chatter is scrutiny.

For one who is free from covetousness non-covetousness is scrutiny.

For one with a mind free from ill will non-ill will is scrutiny.

For one with wrong view right view is scrutiny.

Thus this Dhamma is with scrutiny, it is not without scrutiny.
