AN6.73 — The First Jhana Sutta
Disciples, without abandoning six qualities, one is incapable of entering and dwelling in the first jhāna. What are these six? Sensual desire, ill-will, sloth and torpor, restlessness and worry, and doubt. Moreover, the danger in sensual pleasures is not seen as it truly is with right wisdom. Without abandoning these six qualities one is incapable of entering and dwelling in the first jhāna.
