SN22.106 — Pariññeyya Sutta

Originating in Sāvatthī: Disciples, I will teach you about phenomena that are to be fully understood, the full understanding, and the person who has fully understood. Listen to this.

And what are the phenomena to be fully understood? Form is a phenomenon to be fully understood. Feeling, perception, formations, and consciousness are phenomena to be fully understood. These are called phenomena to be fully understood.

And what is full understanding? The destruction of lust, the destruction of hatred, the destruction of delusion: this is called full understanding.

And who is the person who has fully understood? It is said to be the Arahant. The venerable one of such a name and such a clan: this is called the person who has fully understood.
