SN35.158 — The Discourse on the Impermanence of the Internal

A disciple, thoroughly attending to the eye and perceiving its impermanence as it truly is, becomes disenchanted with the eye. It is said that with the destruction of delight and lust, the mind is well liberated.

A disciple, thoroughly attending to the tongue and perceiving its impermanence as it truly is, becomes disenchanted with the tongue. From the destruction of delight comes the destruction of lust; from the destruction of lust comes the destruction of delight. It is said that with the destruction of delight and lust, the mind is well liberated.

The body... the mind make the mind the object of thorough attention, and perceive the impermanence of the mind as it truly is. A disciple, thoroughly attending to the mind and perceiving its impermanence as it truly is, becomes disenchanted with the mind. From the destruction of delight comes the destruction of lust; from the destruction of lust comes the destruction of delight. It is said that with the destruction of delight and lust, the mind is well liberated.
