SN35.23 — All Discourse

Originating from Sāvatthi.

I will teach you all, disciples.

Listen to this.

And what is all?

The eye and forms, the ear and sounds, the nose and odors, the tongue and tastes, the body and tactile sensations, the mind and mental phenomena: this is called all.

If anyone should say:

I will reject this all and proclaim another all, it would be mere talk on their part, and when questioned, they would not be able to sustain their claim, and further, they would meet with frustration.

Why is that?

Because it would be beyond their scope.
